23rd annual Niagara Children’s Water Festival returns to Brock University

Niagara Region, in partnership with Brock University, City of St. Catharines, Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority and Ontario Power Generation, will host the 23rd annual Niagara Children’s Water Festival on April 28 – May 1, 2026.

The Niagara Children’s Water Festival is a unique opportunity for Grade 4 classes across Niagara to engage in hands-on activities that educate students about the importance of our most valuable natural resource - water. The goal of the festival is to empower children to initiate behaviourial change within their homes, schools and communities.

“Partners from across Niagara have joined forces to create an inspiring, interactive event that puts the spotlight on water and on those who will shape its future. We’re thrilled to host 132 classes at Brock University this year,” said Amanda Deschenes, Chair, Niagara Children’s Water Festival Steering Committee. "A big thank you goes to our partners and Watershed sponsors, like the District School Board of Niagara, the Niagara Catholic District School Board, Oxy Vinyl Canada, and TD Friends of the Environment Foundation. With their support, this event is able to host approximately 3,500 Niagara students."

This four-day educational festival includes 30 interactive and hands-on activity centres run by event partners, as well as other local water, nature and conservation organizations. Each activity focuses on one or more key pillars of learning: water conservation, water protection, water attitude, water science and water technology.

In addition to student participation, around 1,500 parents, teachers and volunteers are expected to take part in the festival over the four days.
